AI உங்கள் முகத்தை ஏன் மாற்றுகிறது? தடுப்பது எப்படி

AI edits sometimes make you look like a different person. Learn why this happens and how to protect your face with one simple sentence and smarter follow-ups.

You upload your photo, and the AI gives back a beautiful picture of someone who is not quite you. This guide explains why that happens. By the end, you will know how to protect your face in a prompt and how to repair a result without losing it.

Why the AI changes faces at all

An AI image tool does not copy and paste your face. It draws a new picture, using your photo as a strong hint. When you ask for a big change, such as a new outfit, a new place and a new art style together, the AI has many things to draw and your face becomes one of them. Small details slip. This slow slipping is often called identity drift.

The three problems people notice most

Identity drift

The nose becomes narrower, the eyes change shape, or the jawline looks different. The result looks like your cousin, not you.

Over-smoothing

The skin looks like plastic. Freckles, small marks and fine lines disappear. Some people like it, but it is no longer your real face.

Lighter skin tone

Many AI tools are trained on pictures that lean towards fairer skin. So they may brighten a darker or wheatish skin tone, even when you did not ask. This is a known weakness, and it is worth guarding against on purpose.

The "keep my face" sentence

The most useful habit is to start your prompt with a clear instruction about your face. Here is a full example.

Edit the uploaded photo of me, an adult. Keep my face, skin tone, hairstyle and features exactly as in the photo; do not lighten or smooth the skin. Dress me in a blue cotton saree beside a village well, soft afternoon light, realistic.

Notice that it names each thing separately: face, skin tone, hairstyle, features. Naming them helps the AI treat each one as a rule, not as a loose wish. It also says what not to do. "Do not lighten or smooth the skin" speaks directly to the two most common problems.

Why you should repeat the sentence

AI tools give more weight to what is fresh in the conversation. After two or three edits, the first instruction becomes faint. So repeat the face sentence in each new message, especially when you change the style or the setting. It feels boring, but it works much better than saying it once. Our prompt builder already adds it for you.

Fix the previous result, do not regenerate

Suppose the picture is 90 percent right, but the face looks smoother. Many beginners press "regenerate", and the AI starts a fresh drawing. You lose the good parts and the face may be worse.

Instead, reply to the same picture with a narrow request:

  1. Say what must stay: "Keep the clothes, background and pose exactly the same."
  2. Say what to fix: "Restore my natural skin texture and original skin tone."
  3. Repeat the face sentence once.

Editing the previous result keeps the parts you already like. If three such fixes do not help, then it is time to start again with a simpler prompt. For the basics of this process, see the beginner's walkthrough.

When your photo is a poor input

Sometimes the problem is not the prompt. The photo itself makes the AI guess. Watch for these:

  • Low light, blur, or a very small face in a big scene
  • Strong beauty filters, which already changed your face
  • Sunglasses, masks, hair covering half the face, or a sharp side angle
  • A photo cropped very tightly, so the hairstyle is missing

Choose a bright, front-facing photo with your whole head visible. This single step often fixes more than any clever wording.

A few habits that help every time

First, ask for one big change, not five. A new saree, a new place and a new art style together push the face to the back. Do the outfit first, then the place in a follow-up. Second, avoid words like "beautiful", "flawless" or "glamorous". The AI may read them as a request to change your skin and features. Prefer neutral words such as "natural" and "realistic". Third, if you want an art style such as a painting or a cartoon, expect the face to be simplified. Ask for "a gentle painted style that still looks clearly like me", and compare the result with your original.

Finally, remember that a change in a face is not your fault. These tools are still imperfect, and a second careful attempt is normal.

Quick checklist

  • Use a clear, unfiltered, front-facing photo
  • Start the prompt with the face-protecting sentence
  • Add "do not lighten or smooth the skin"
  • Change only one big thing at a time
  • Repeat the sentence in every follow-up
  • Edit the previous result before regenerating

Common questions

Will this sentence work every time?

No. It improves your chances, but no app can promise an exact match. Try again with a simpler request if needed.

Is it wrong to want a smoother look?

Not at all, it is your choice. Just ask for it deliberately instead of getting it by accident.

Where can I report a problem with a site tool?

Use our grievance page, and read more tips in the guides section.

Please use only your own photos, or photos of people who have clearly said yes. Results vary from app to app and even from try to try.
