புகைப்படத்தை AI ஸ்டைலாக மாற்றும் எளிய வழி

Learn how to upload your own photo, paste a prompt, check the result and make small fixes, with one worked example explained in plain words.

This guide is for you if you have never edited a photo with AI. By the end, you will be able to upload one of your own photos, paste a prompt, judge the result and fix small problems without starting again.

What to prepare before you open the app

Good results start with a good photo. Spend two minutes choosing it.

  • Pick a photo where your face is clear, front-facing and not blurry.
  • Daylight near a window is better than a dark room.
  • One person in the frame is easiest. Group photos work, but faces become smaller and harder for the AI to keep right.
  • Avoid heavy filters, sunglasses and a hand covering the face.

Keep the original photo safe. You will always edit a copy, so nothing is lost if the result is poor.

Step 1: Upload the photo

Open an AI app that accepts images, such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Meta AI. Look for the small plus or paperclip icon near the message box and choose your photo. Wait until the picture appears in the chat. If it does not appear, the upload has not finished, and the AI will only imagine a person instead of using your photo.

Each app has its own rules about how many images you can send and how many edits you can do in a day. Check the app's current limits instead of guessing.

Step 2: Paste your prompt

A prompt is simply the instruction you give the AI. You can copy a ready-made one from our prompt builder or from the trending prompts page. Paste it in the message box under your photo, then send.

A good photo prompt has three parts: first, a line that protects your face; second, what to change (clothes, place, art style); third, the mood and light. Here is a simple one.

Edit the uploaded photo of me, an adult. Keep my face, skin tone, hairstyle and features exactly as in the photo. Dress me in a cotton saree and place me on a sunny terrace with potted plants, soft morning light, natural colours, realistic.

Step 3: Check the result carefully

Do not just say "nice" and save it. Look for these things, one by one.

  1. Face: Does it still look like you? Check the eyes, nose, smile and hairline.
  2. Skin tone: Is it the same colour as in your photo, not lighter or smoother?
  3. Hands and fingers: AI often draws an extra finger or a bent wrist.
  4. Clothes and jewellery: Do they match what you asked for?
  5. Background: Look for odd shapes and any strange letters.

If the face has changed, read our guide on why AI changes your face and how to stop it.

Step 4: Adjust with small follow-up messages

Do not start from zero when one thing is wrong. Reply to the same chat with one change at a time. For example: "Same picture, but make the saree dark green" or "Keep everything the same, but fix the right hand." Small, clear changes work better than a long new prompt, because the AI already has the picture in mind.

A worked example, in words

Imagine Lakshmi, a homemaker, wants a festival picture for her family group. She picks a clear selfie taken near a window. She uploads it and waits for it to appear. She pastes a prompt asking for a silk saree, a kolam at the doorstep and warm morning light, with the face-protecting sentence at the start.

The first result looks lovely, but the skin looks a little smooth and the kolam has a broken line. She does not regenerate. She writes: "Keep the same picture. Restore my natural skin texture and make the kolam lines complete." The second image is closer. She then saves it, and shares it with a small note that it is AI-edited.

How to compare results

Keep your original beside the new picture on your phone screen. Zoom in on the face in both. Ask yourself whether a family member would say "that is you" within a second. If you try two or three versions, name them in your head: A, B, C. Choose the one with the truest face, even if another has a prettier background. A good background can be fixed later, but a changed face is hard to repair. You can also try the same prompt in two different apps and compare, since each app has its own style.

Quick checklist

  • Clear, front-facing photo chosen
  • Photo fully uploaded before sending
  • Face-protecting sentence at the start of the prompt
  • Face, skin tone, hands and background checked
  • One change per follow-up message
  • Original photo kept safe

Common questions

Do I need to pay to try this?

Many apps have a free option, but limits and features change. Check the app's current limits before you plan anything.

Why does my result look different from the example?

Every photo, app and moment gives a different answer. Treat examples as a starting point and adjust the wording.

Can I use a photo of a friend?

Only if they clearly agree. See our disclaimer and browse more ideas in the guides section.

Please use only your own photos, or photos of people who have clearly said yes. Results vary from app to app and even from try to try.
